back to the Metro Project
  Autumn in New York

Inspired by views of Google's Streetview, I decided to do a metro scene of a New York-style street.

The background buildings are from previous projects. The nearest buildings are new - the metro mall is based on NYC's Matthattan Mall.

The trees are from here. I modified the texture list in the mesh to add more variety to the leaves (by default they are all identical image maps). Given that it's autumn in my neck of the woods, I collected many different leaves, scanned them in and added them to the model.
I've developed is a new technique for adding crowds which takes up MUCH less memory than using 3d models.
An early view of the street. Originally, I was focusing on a sidewalk cafe/pizzaria. As is often the case, the camera's perspective changed over the course of the project.
I played with the idea of a crowd filling up the intersection. I opted to do the POV-Ray logo.
